This Good News page serves several purposes. It provides Good News that's happening on the road as well as questions about the industry itself as it pertains to upcoming artist, Independent Artist, National Recording Artist, supporters and individuals that makeup the traditional gospel music circuit.

It's hosted by Mike, of Slim & The Supreme Angels. Mike is a very dear friend of ours and a blessing to the Industry itself, not to mention one of the best Bass players to ever ride the road. His gospel music accomplishments began professionally in 1973 with the legendary Evangelist Dorothy Norwood. He played with her band from 1973-76. From there he began touring with the famous Swan Silvertones of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Later in 1979, he joined ranks with the Blind Boys of Mississppi and Alabama. During these years they often shared musicians when needed. Mike toured with The two sets of Blind Boys from 1979 til 1982. In 1982 he began playing for Spencer Taylor & The Highway QC's. He played for 4 years. Currently he shares his gift and is a vital part of Rev. Howard Slim Hunt & The Supreme Angels Ministry. Now let's see, he must have found his niche, because that would make Mike a member of The Supreme Angels for 19 years. He is also well known for bringing the best gospel productions to the Lee County, NC area. If that's not enough, he also has traditional gospel music roots embedded deeply in his family. He boast of two sons Antron and Anthony, they play and sing skillfully with Min. Darrell McFadden & The Fantastic Disciples. He also has two nephews that are making a big mark in today's industry. Min. Darrel McFadden and Keith "Wonderboy" Johnson. Then there's another cousin Stanley Richardson, who has been a vital part of the  legendary Spencer Taylor & The Highway QC's for years as well as a stepbrother that played with Bill Pinkney & The Drifters. As you can see it's not only in Mike's heart, but it's in his blood. So he speaks to us from the perspective of a Father, Uncle, Artist, avid supporter, mentor, promoter and now a brand new hat, can you say web host. He has promised to share with us the Good News, that is so many times overlooked by personal opinions and comments. I mean c'mon, we hear so many negative things about the artist and the industry, "We CARE" has decided to devote this space to send Accolades to those that are doing good things and exercising the FRUITS of the SPIRIT! And Mike has generously offered his expertise and experience to anyone wanting advice or encouragement as they journey on this road.   Ahh...Technology! You gotta love it!

These are the answers to questions posted in Let' Talk

Question...What advise can you give for having a successful program and packing the house.

Answer.... 3 things, and in this order. 1-seek God, 2-use good, solid groups that have drawing power and have not wore your area out by singing there too much, 3- plenty, I mean plenty of advertising, flyers, radio spots, in town and out of your town. Put flyers everywhere.

Question...What would be a fair price for an artist that has not made it to a major label? Should you be charging by the mileage or a standard price? What should we include in our charging? And how do you go about getting a major label to look at you?

Can you help your sister out? I sing with The Mixon's Singer of Chicago Ill. now and I really want to get this group moving around a lot.

Answer...First of all, I commend you for wanting to take your group to the next level.
As for price, anything less than a grand is just about free. You should consider your gas lodging and food. And always carry your own just in case things don't work out like they should. A new group should consider a standard price, of no less than $700 plus lodging.

A few things you do for good exposure:
First and foremost make sure your craft is polished, bring something to the table. Invest in a quality CD, SING every chance you get, and ALWAYS keep God first.
