Happy Planning!

Before Anything!
Stay in prayer from the beginning.  Remember that this event isn't just another concert, but a life-changing night for those attending.  Seek the Lord's guidance in all of your decisions!

First check the calendar (on the website, www.programsinthecarolinas.com ) to make sure you're not planning your event when something else is going on in your immediate area.

  The Checklist

14 weeks...

1. Make arrangements to do a direct mail campaign. Bulk mail usually takes at least three weeks to be fully delivered.)

2. Set up ticket sales. List them on your promotional materials. Inform all outlets that you will pick up the receipts and excess tickets no later than the day before the concert. Inform your stores that even if they sell all their allotted tickets UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should they tell their customers the concert is sold out unless you tell them so.

3. Contact the local Christian radio station about advertising. Get rates and ask for discounts and special promotion policies. Explore all public service announcements.

12 weeks...

1. Distribute all promotional materials and tickets to outlets. Be sure to get receipts  so  proper accounting can be made when you settle up.

6 weeks...
1. Recruit crew to help with concert (load-in, ushers, ticket takers, load-out).

2. Send announcements to all free publications (activities calendars, church bulletins, newspapers, radio, TV, cable shows)

3. Your mailing should have arrived by this time. Check with people on your list to see when they received theirs.

4 weeks prior to the concert...
1. Start  radio advertising at least four weeks prior to the concert. Also, have the station do ticket give-aways and offer tickets to the station employees.

2. Artist's radio interviews should be scheduled and approved by this time.

3 weeks prior to the concert...
1. Send press releases to the religion and entertainment editors of all local newspapers. Keep them short and to the point with a name and number to call for more information.

2. Check tickets every three days. Redistribute tickets if necessary. No outlet should be allowed to run out of tickets if other outlets still have them.

The week of the concert...
1. Be sure that all ticket monies and/or tickets are picked up from the outlets no later than the day prior to the concert. This will give you enough time to make an accounting of all tickets sold at advance and group rates. Group rates will not be applicable at the door nor should any tickets not already paid for be held at the door. It is not uncommon for people to call, ask you to hold 30 tickets, and then not show up or appear with just a few people.

2. If you have not already discussed arrival times and last minute details with Call artist's road manager to confirm appropriate arrangements. (arrival times and last minute details)

3. Be sure to have hotels reserved and prepaid in the artist's name. There is often confusion at the desk so be sure that artist's name is correctly spelled out, and if possible, a confirmation number is assigned and given to the road manager.

4. Have meals or food money arranged.

The day of the concert...
1. Be sure that your crew will be there at the pre-determined time. The hall manager should have the building open and ready for set-up.

2. Brief ushers and staff on their duties at least two hours before concert time. Be sure they are aware of the fact that due to recording contracts, no tape recorders or video cameras are permitted in the hall without written approval of our record company or management. Photographs are not permitted.

3. Meet with your road manager to cover details on set-up and load-out as well as sound check, etc.

4. Have tables set up at the rear of the auditorium and several people available to help with vendors, tables, etc.

5. Have an expense record sheet completed (door sales can be added following the concert) and receipts on hand so you can settle up quickly if percentages are involved.

6. Meal(s) for artists and crew.

7. Prayer time with artists, crew usually takes place an hour or so prior to the concert. Doors usually open to the public an hour before concert time.

8. Pass out mailing list cards to get the name and address of all who attended so you can send flyers to them in the future.

After the concert...
1. Thank God!

2. Thank your artist and volunteers.

3. Pay all your bills.

YEAR END PROGRAM with the MIGHTY CLOUDS OF JOY

This program had potential to be a glorious event; however, it was marked with challenges from the beginning. It was almost two hours late starting which put a lot of people on edge. All the groups did show up and perform, which was a blessing. The Silver Stars of Blanch, NC did a wonderful job. The young man on the lead guitar was amazing to say the least.  Rev. Harvey Jones of the Triangle Starlights sounds just as blessed (if not moreso) than he did twenty years ago. One lesson most upcoming groups could stand to learn is more singing - less talking!  Due to food poisoning, Joe Ligon was unable to be at this program, but the Mighty Clouds of Joy performed remarkably! Ron was an excellent stand- in for Joe. Infact, had one not seen them but heard the performance only, a person would have thought Joe Lagon was indeed there. Mike Cooke can definitely shake the windows at any given time! (Singing in the Clouds indeed!) However, this program still left a bit to be desired due to timing, talking, and whatever other issues that kept it from being at its full potential. May it be a learning tool for the promoters and may God bless them in the future!

SIGNATURE QUILT UNVEILING PROGRAM

Oh, what a blessed event!!!  We CARE Promotions and Broadcast really went to work on this program and it paid off. The Fine
Arts Bldg. of St. Augustine's College was a beautiful setting for the quilt and the performers. Parking may have been at question, but I heard no real complaints. The variety of groups was great. Johnnie Faison and the Gospel Tones can sing to me anytime, especially "Loving Eyes."  George Dickens and the Disciples came all the way from Oak City, NC and tore the house up from the beginning of their set until the end! These are North Carolina's best upcoming headliners for sure! Rev. Howard "Slim" Hunt and the Supreme Angels gave a legendary performance. The perseverance of traditional/quartet gospel was definitely honored at this program through the quilt and the performances. Whatever challenges experienced during the planning and carrying out of this event were handled well and appear to be learning tools for the We CARE organization. May God ever bless them and their supporters!

just came to myself after getting in from the program . there was 5 groups and i must say every group gave it there all. but i must say it was a lee williams night. him and that patrick just let god had this way tonight. if patrick don't never sang that song again i can truly say god use him last night . the spirit just took controll of patrick and that make lee sing that much harder. patrick had to pull him off the stage and he was still singing. i would like to give hats off to donald william anyother job well done. must give this program a 10!

Anniversary of the GOSPEL JUBILEES of Raleigh, NC

This event was held on July 9, 2006 at Friendship Chapel Church in Wake Forest, NC. The church is beautiful and has a very good seating arrangement. It really should have been a packed house, considering the contribution the Jubilees and Rev. Johnnie Holloway have made to quartet gospel. This group offers almost every variation of gospel music from praise and worship to contemporary to traditional. Even the variety of groups on the program highlighted the versatility of the Jubilees...Ed Hall and the Evening Five, The Capital City Five, Kingdom's Heirs, The Christian Harmonettes, and the praise and worship choir. Every heart present was fed. I must say, however, the microphones could have been in better service and less turn around time in between groups would have been commendable.
This gets a 6 rating.        FranLuWa

30th pre-ANNIVERSARY OF THE SPIRITUAL ENTERTAINERS OF OXFORD, NC

Oh what a blessed event this was!
This banquet was held at West Oxford Elementary School and the turnout was wonderful. I believe every seat was filled. I know every stomach was!!! The food was very good and plentiful. The tables were beautifully decorated. Coach Powell spoke well of the gospel effort and encourage all to generate funding for our talents. Performances by The Gospel Harmoneers of Warrenton, Big James Barrett and the Golden Jubilees of Greenville, and of course by the honorees The Spiritual Entertainers of  Oxford were very good and well received by the congregation. The promoter for this event, Ms. Arnita Miles of Vance County, did an excellent job on the planning. Her humbleness as well as that of the Spiritual Entertainers was definitely noted by the outstanding response from the congregation.
For a local program, this earns an 8 rating mark.

August 6, 2005 in Durham, NC

This program is almost beyond description and dangerously close to being a full blown disaster. Perhaps it was the first big program for the promoters or everyone was just totally unprepared for this event. No microphones for the local groups and with the exception of the first group, the other two walked out and did not perform. CHURCH FOLK in the audience were getting rowdy (perhaps somewhat understandable over the unorganization for the local groups; but questionable behavior for God's people). However, Mr. Doc McKenzie came out and spoke a few words of wisdom to all and smoothed things over for his performance which was off the hook to say the least!! Mr. George Dean has the most charming personality and it showed as he followed up with his performance despite other situations not in the favor of his group, The Gospel Four. The way he broke into "Blessed for My Humbleness" is nothing less than spiritually inspirational and full of charm and poise.
This program is beyond rating because I will never forget that one, but I'm not sure that I really want to acknowledge such discord either.  FranLuWa

Harvey Jones & Triangle Starlights Anniversary!

Rev. Harvey Jones and the Triangle Starlights' Anniversary

I had the opportunity to go to the anniversary of the  Triangle Starlights on June 26, 2005 at the Ezra
Center. Unfortunately they had the room without a stage and the microphones were not functioning well for all singers. The spirit seemed to be overly relaxed regardless how well the groups performed. I came in on Perfect Vision and James Lassiter was in full form with his very talented voice. Rev. Harvey Jones was as smooth as he was in the day of the Consolaires. (Of course the microphone issues challenged their performance). The Carolina Kings of Henderson sound so good! Oh my God! Johnny Faison and the Gospel Tones song my favorites from back in the day and with the perfection of Johnny Faison. It sure would be nice to hear a lot more of these groups in this area!! More advertisement would have drawn a larger crowd. The timing was very decent as was the number of groups on the program.
I rate this program 6.

B.T. Green & Chritian Harmonettes Anniversary,

Hillside High School is indeed a beautiful school and an excellent  place for such events. Parking was good, too. Tickets were not too pricey and the availability of vendors and food was good. Melissa Wade did a fine job as the announcer. Time was used as wisely as possible.  I thoroughly enjoyed George Dean and The Gospel Four. They fit in very well for this area in quartet gospel...definitely high quality headliner material. Luther Barnes gave an excellent concert. He sang no song too long and didn't talk too much. That is as close to perfect as one should expect and he should pass that method on to others in the profession.  Many blessings are wished to BT Green and the Christian Harmonettes! They sound wonderful and are warm-hearted people.

I rate this program a 9.

At Hillside High School in Durham, NC

Even though I got there late. The Gospel 4 turned it out. I enjoy those guys. They are very friendly people, And I always enjoy George Dean's singing. I felt like  George Dean should have been the HeadLiner.
And I felt like the admission price was high for this program, I believe he would have had a packed house, or more people there. And I think all promoters that have Gospel Programs should have a discount for the Senior Citizens , Because they are big supporters of these Gospel Programs.
I give this program rating a 5......Jn

I would like to comment on Bro. B. T. Green & The Christian Harmonettes Anniversary, that was held on June 5,2005 at The Hillside High School Auditorium in Durham,NC. I really enjoyed the program. And I would like to suggest that the Gospel Promoters need to consider the Senior Citizens ages. and not charge them the regular price as everyone else. I think that they should charge the Senior Citizen between $6.00-$8.00 and nothing more. I would like to say that Bro. George Dean & the Gospel Four really turned the house out. and Also I would like to give praise to The Bradley Family of Durham, NC and let them know that I really enjoyed them and keep God in your care. I would like to say that Bro. Luther Barnes and The Sunset Jubilaires of Rocky Mount,NC did a good job. and the rest of the groups on the program were great also. Bro. B. T. I want to congratulate you and your group on a great anniversary! Well done and I hope that you would have many more to come.

Program Review For Dunn NC June 5,2005

 Time:3:30????4:30???

Head Liners: The Brooklyn Allstars and The Nightingales

First of all the program was scheduled for Doors Open at 2:30 Program Starts at 3:30 but it started around 4:00 or 4:30 with the MC's group opening. And there were two MC's one was pretty good the other seemed to have an attitude of some kind for some reason and didn't seem to friendly. But the biggest problem I saw was the number of groups on the program. This program had 8 groups listed yet about 10 ended up singing. They just walked in and I feel when you have a program like that maybe you need to redo the time allowed to sing instead of 20 mins. each maybe 10 or 12 mins. and groups need to learn that when there time is up time is up. I have been to so many programs where no one sang their allowed time and it makes everyone have to be in a bind and rushing to get the message accross. If we would only do everything in order as the bible asks it would be so much easier on the MC's and groups themselves because most of these groups come from along way and a lot of the time hardly get to minister and that just isn't fair.
They kept telling the last group to cut it short because they had to be out at a certain time and it seemed like they just kept singing just because. I really do not support groups that do not abide by rules so that everyone can enjoy the program.
It makes it hard on everyone when you don't do what you are supposed to do, as Ministers of the gospel in song.
The Brooklyn AllStars did good but,  I'm going to be honest with you it felt like the crowd was waiting for Rev. Spann or something because they crowds response wasn't that good.We have to get used to the group with or without the Reverend he is getting them ready to be alble to appear on their own and I feel we should give them the same support when he's not there as when he's there. You can just feel the difference.I always enjoy them even by themselves they are a very anointed young group with a very bright future ahead of them. And I will always support their Ministry. Rev.Spann is leaving a great groups of guys to following in his foot steps. I hope we support them also.
The Nightingales as always were great. I just once again, think the crowd was tired from the long list of groups that had appeared and it's was getting really late and I'm sure people were trying to support as much as they could. I just wish Promoters would try and not place some many groups on one program so the people can enjoy the program without getting wore out with to much singing. I know we need to make the money to pay the groups but it seems to be driving the fans away insted of winning more fans to the Quartet Industry. And this is on one persons opinion. But I do attend a lot of the major programs from town to town and it is easy to see the fallout....Until next time see you on the front row!!!!

Tony & The Magnificent Voices Anniversary!

May 27, 2005
This anniversary had great potential. The building was roomy and actually rather comfortable for local programming. Better usage of time in between groups would have made things better and more efficient. More stable PA system and more knowledge of how to adjust the microphones would have been better appreciated. (God bless the Memphis Harmonizer for their patience and tolerance!) All groups did perform very well. Please note that if you set a time limit for performances, it needs to apply to all. The Memphis Harmonizers were wonderful with such a blues/jazz smooth sound. I would definitely love to hear more from them. Doc McKenzie left me absolutely speechless even with his rendition of the benediction and continuance of "I Won."  Tony and the Magnificent Voices were good and blessed. My salutation to a female on guitar any day!
This program gets a 7.7.

The Sensational Nightingales In Concert

This program was really good.I was late getting there due to having to do another program before that. That I would raither not rate. But I got there just in time to hear "The Nightingales'and I was totally blessed!!There were other groups on the program also. The Male Chourse,The Triangle Startlights and The Branchettes. When I got there the Branchettes were coming down and the church was rocking with Sister May Perry she is a anointed woman of God and each time she singings she just lifts your spirit. Then the Gales came up.And they were on fire. These brothers are so blessed in their Ministry that when they sing you feel the spirit in the place.Bro.Darryl and Bro.Joe Joe"The Living Legend"Is a blessing to be around.Bro.Sug and Bro.Larry add to the good company. But what I like most about these guys is not just on stage but when you see them off stage they are so down to earth that I see why God uses them!!
The church had a great crowd and if felt like everyone was really enjoying the group. They sang a mixture of old and new hits and that was really nice.I will always remember the Gals as being on of my all time favorite Quartet Groups they just have a smooth sound that you just can't find every where. So God blessed that program and everyone when home from a Spiritfilled Night with The Nightingals and their guest. If you missed it you missed a treat. But until next time,I will see you on the front row!!!

and others!

Hi, everyone I'm back in commission I'd been busy for awhile and had not attended any good programs but i'm back on the road again!!! Last night I was in Raeford,NC at the Old Time Gospel  Program. And that it is was!! This program was great and the groups well most of them anyway did a great job.The sound was nice and everyone seemed to be having a good time. But one of the groups as usual song over their time and the MCs had to get on them and kind of let them know everthing should be done in order. The MC's were good kind of long at some points but good.
The local groups as I said, did a great job but the head liners rocked the house!!The Brooklyn Allstars with their guest Rev. Spann who had just got out of the hospital the day before was awesome!! They sung songs that I had forgot they wrote! And they went off!! Little Sonny was in total rare form and the anointing was all in the place!! Rev. Spann acted like a 20 year old insted of the 80 years old he's blessed to be.God was truly in the house!!! Those boys all most sang the building down!!It was a night to remember. Then The Nightingales came on and put the icing on the cake. Those men have such a blessed ministry that no matter how many times you hear them you are blessed!! I just enjoyed getting to another good program. It wasn't a big crowd and was a little long but the spirit was there and that was all that mattered.I can't wait to see them again on June 5,2005 at 3:30 in Dunn, NC at Dunn Community Building!!!And maby I will see you on the front row!!

Appreciation Service for Thelma Bass

May 1, 2005

I attended an appreciation service in Durham Sunday at Living Water Church on Hwy 70. What a beautiful place for a beautiful program!

I was late getting there due to a wonderful Anniversary celebration at Emmanuel Tabernacle on Atlantic Street, but I could tell Sister Eunice Wilkerson and her committee or co-workers had done a wonderful job planning this worthwhile event. There was a nice crowd of people present to be a blessing to Radio Announcer, Faithfulaires group leader,  founder, and community advocate, Sis. Thelma Bass. Sis. Bass is presently going through some serious medical conditions that pricked the heart of  Promoter Eunice Wilkerson to spearhead this benefit program on Thelma’s behalf. We pray  the Lord  continues to bless her.

It’s such a blessing when God touches the heart of your friends to the point that they put things into action. It takes thought, action, much prayer and faith to make the vision a reality. We all come up with really good ideas from time to time, but how often do we act on them. Talk is one thing but action is another.I send accolades out to you Eunice---job very well done.

I’d also like to commend the wonderful groups, promoters and media reps. that came to be a blessing to Thelma as well. I don’t know all of the names, but I do know some and I’ll mention them here, The Price Family, Rufus Poole, The Faithfulaires, Tony & The Magnificent Voices, Second Chance, The Silver Stars of Blanch, The Friendly 5, The Christian Angels and Geneses all sang on the program. They all did an outstanding job ministering to God’s people. The area promoters in attendance were Johnnie Hunter, Frances Malone, Richard Miller, Louise Hargrove, George Thaxton, Jonas Brown, Buddy Baldwin, Carolyn Pettiford Ryles,  Shirley McCadden, Beatrice Williams, Jackie Green and myself. Angeltone members Sharron Terrell and Ann Jones were also present in support of this benefit.

Remember to show you really CARE about others, take action. Show your support by attending these great events.

Lee Williams's Anniversary in Richmond, VA

I was blessed with the opportunity to go to the big program in Richmond, VA on April 17, 2005. I must say I am a fan of Doc McKenzie and Keith "Wonderboy" Johnson and I did enjoy their performances...even though they talked too much. I also enjoyed the Williams Brothers, especially when they sang "Still Here." They also talked too much. Slim did a great job and I'm sure Lee Williams pleased his crowd. The building was beautiful, but I think for a show like, the theater seating may be helpful for viewing from the back and sides. The biggest grip I would have with this program or any for that matter is the groups could use a little more variety in their performances. As many hits as these groups have, people shouldn't be able to predict exactly what they are going to  sing at every show.
With all that being said, I give this program a 7.8 rating.

 Friday Night April 8,2005

       Durham,NC NCGAG

Friday night the beginning of the guild started out pretty good.I only had one compaint well maby two.The sound went from ok to right out the door. It was as if the sound men were new to the whole thing. The choirs were so big that someone should have told them to stand around the mikes for better sound (i'm a musician I know)but then again this was the sound mans job. And so this made the music sound totally out of sink for most of the night. But I have to give it to  the bands for the groups they were totally awesome they took us way back to church with there music and the crowd loved it! I think they would have loved it even more with more attention from the sound men.The guild is always a good place to display your talents so why not make it the best in sound and everything? Also there was alot of people singing to tracks and at some places tracks are not always the best to use. They maby better in a smaller setting because in a big setting like that the sound quality is not that great. At one time I thought we were going to have a night of tracks I was starting to feel a little let down. But I couldn't complain the program was supposed to be free. They lifted offerings each night which is understandable but, if you want me to give please don't single me out with what i'm going to give.Such as asking everyone who's paying $20.00 to come first and so on.God has no respect a person when it comes to giving the bibls said, just give and it shall be given unto you. But all and all I enjoyed each night that I went to the guild, always do and I've been attending for going on three years now. And the groups and choirs that I heard and seen have been totally awesome. But Friday Night ending with Rev. Timothy Wright was the perfect way to end a week.I'm a big fan of Timothy Wright from way back in the day (Yes,I'm A Believer) so that was the best way that I could have ended my week by listening to the "Godfather of Gospel."

The Guild...

Friday Night .....I got to the Marriott around 9. I was really impressed with the Choir attendance and they were really, really good. I mean these choirs were in full force and full voice too. I only saw 3. But I’ll bet each one of them had over 30 voices and these people were singing with all their might. It was awesome. I normally don’t care for too many choirs cause it seems they sing the same song forever and 3 or 4 people have to swap the mike and sing the same thing the others have already sung, only louder and higher than the other person sung it, like it’s some kind of voice competition going on. But I’ll give credit where it’s due. These choirs Friday night were very, very good. My favorite was "Father" Charles Hayes and the Cosmopolitan Church of Prayer Choir out of Chicago. They had two bus loads and I’m thinking how do they afford to come down. Gas is high and Chicago is more than a hope skip and jump. I know NC doesn’t have a mass choir to payback. How do they do it?  Do you join the guild and decide which states you’ll tour or what? The ones that recorded the forever famous “how you gonna pay your rent & all yo money spent, baby needs a pair of shoes” run, Yep, “Jesus Can Work it Out”. Now I did think it was a bit much when the leader singer came out in the audience and jumped up in the audience chair to finish the song. I mean why? You were already up high on stage where everyone could see you. Why not just stay up there and sing. That’s what the stage is for.

But they still sounded fantastic. I guess that was part of their choir decorum. I don’t know. Now I was there from 9 to 12:30 and it wasn’t over when I left they said there were still several groups that had to sing. I don’t know but I did get to hear 3 quartets. A great group (don’t remember their names )out of Holly Springs, Miss. They had an awesome lead singer and the background and band was hot too. The Edwards Sisters  of Greeneville, NC. Ya’ll know how Tammy Edwards does it. The audience loved their “PUSH” delivery. People were in the audience PUSHING their way through the mess! And I was too. But that Bobby Wilson in the Norris Garner group. Lawd have mercy if that man didn’t sang, the sun ain’t shining today. Whew. He hit one run and I kno I saw somebody go put money on the stage like they do on the televised Mega Church Shows. Seriously, somebody in the crowd felt like the boy sung so-oo hard he needed to be paid, and took matters into his own hands.

I loved it – guess you can tell. But there’s always a downside. Hey! NC Gospel Announcers Guild, get some people in the house for these folks to sing to. Seriously, the announcer’s guild ought to have better publicity than anybody. That's RADIO isn't it? Everybody in NC should have at least heard about it, especially people that support gospel music and the artist. People said they just didn’t know anything about it.

The crowd was very small for a Friday night. Freewill Offering. I saw Al “the Bishop Hobbs on the front row. I know last year he did the closing remarks, this year I didn’t stay til closing. But I know it was him, from his work with The Bobby Jones Gospel TV Show. I saw Doc McKenzie and Darrell Henley in the audience too. Doc was introduced from his seat. Damon Little gave a special public thank you to the Announcer’s Guild for giving him a chance and playing his music when he first started. He talked about sowing seeds, then he sowed one into the NC Announcer’s Guild (very generous contribution too, if I do say so myself). Go Damon!

Here’s a question for you. Do you think that maybe the choirs are getting so much more airplay than the quartets because they come out and sing on these type programs. The choirs were in full voice. While last year I heard quartets singing to tracks. C'mon people. How's the choir gonna get 45 people to come sing and you can't get 8 members to commit? I mean if I had a group I would set aside a special amount of money to invest in at least one of these opportunities annually and at the seminars I’d voice my concerns, and I’d register to sing. Because you really should sow into things you believe in, like yourself and your group. If I didn’t sing anywhere else. I’d definitely try to be a part of the Announcer’s Guild. Afterall, that’s RADIO isn’t it? Can anybody say airplay?

I'll give it an 8...great gifts, but no crowd, they basically sang to the announcers and each other.

Time:????

Garner Senior High School

This program could have had the makings of a good program there was some good guest groups on the program the special guest being the Silver Stars of Blanch and I always enjoy them. And they did a great job as usual! The only things wrong at this program was the attitudes of the some of the people in charge. I was told that only four groups were invited but it ended up being about eight groups. And the extra groups were family groups that were added in.So the guest groups only got to sing two songs while the family groups went on and on. I think if you plan a program and promise visiting groups something please stick to your word groups look to you for this. And since it was a family sponsored program the family could have been put on hold for singing and let the guest sing.

I talked to a few of the guest group members and they were unhappy about the way they were treated. The main group that had taken the time out to set up the mikes and etc. for the program got rushed off stage after being nice enough to come and set up for all the groups. I think alot of times people forget who's really the ones that helped make the program, without mikes, drums and etc.what kind of program would that have been? If anyone should have sang extra shouldn't it have been them? I was a little disappointed when I hard some of the groups were not treated fair..

So with this little review in mind, maybe this will remind Promoters and the public to treat people who help them a little better. There maybe a time that you will need them again. And this time it may not be so easy to get their help. Remember the bible says, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you."And,until next time, I'll see you on the front row!!!Many Happy Programs!!!!!

Anniversary

Ezra Center, Raleigh

Time: 3:30,4:00,4:30??

I have just returned from this Anniversary and I am totally drained if I must say! But the time that it should have started was all confusing and the place that they had it was about to be over crowded. And they were bringing in more chairs!!! Not that it wasn't already packed!I think the last count was 20 groups!! Now I enjoy a good Gospel Program but when it's that many groups it can get frustrating.I think by the time you get past number 10 the crowd starts to lose interest and the spirit dies down.I always watch the crowd's response to the MC and how they response to the groups and after awhile the crowd can get loud and out of order at some of these events. To many groups is just to many. But all and all the MC was doing her job of asking the groups for only two songs each, due to the long list of groups that they had. And all the groups tried to stay in line by just singing their two songs and in this case that was a good thing.

They also served food but I think for that crowd they would have been fine with hot dogs and hamburgers insted of dinners and fancy things. They just didn't seem to be selling a lot of food. I got a hot dog before I left and wasn't really impressed at the taste but maybe someone else who was really hungry was.I got there around 3:00 O'clock and I left around 6:30 and they were only on about number 6. So they were in for along night! The host group sang about midway and they did a couple songs but it was their day so they could. The group that sang before them, "The New Rolling Travelers" were really good and everyone seemed to enjoy their 2 songs. It was just the right send off for the host group. But once the host group sang the long list of groups would begin. And some people spoke about people leaving as soon as they sing but when you have that many groups it really makes it hard for people to stay especially if they have came from a good ways and most of these people have just got out of church. Now that's a long day!!!

Well this is my story and I'm sticking to it! I think it would have been much better with less people or in a bigger setting that could hold the guest. I don't know where my next program will be for now, but when I hit one you will get the front row scoop. But until then many Happy Programs!!

I Rated This Program A 2 .......Way To Many Groups

Friday Night March 4,2005

Johnny Hunter's H&H Productions does it again!!Johnny brought The Brooklyn Allstars and The Sensational Nightengales to his home church Apex First Baptist!

This was another awesome event. It was a birthday celebration for his 95 year old mother in law who looked as pretty as a picture. The church was almost standing room

only. And the spirit was just as full.I guess the real MC didn't show so he asked another Pastor to do it and I tell you he was on fire for the Lord! From the time he got up the program took off.The groups were totally a blessing. Everyone sang there time and the crowd loved it.The locals started it off. With a solo from Bro.Farrar from Cary and this being an older man he rocked the church! What a send off I was just about to burst open the man could not sing but, "Sang" ya'll. If you haven't heard this man you need to find him and get him on your programs. I think he does the song, "the blood"that he's also recorded!Well after him the program was really up beat. Serenity from Apex was good with there own style as on the last program. And Johnny Hunter's New Rolling Travelers sang and the band was off the hook I really enjoyed the bands climex after the group finished. Then the Nigthingales came up and almost took the church to heaven! Those guys are totally awesome I see why they are so blessed they really minister to you.

Then The New Brooklyn Allstars. Bro.Tommy Spann was not there so the group really didn't seem to let go like they normally do but the songs sounded good as usual and at the end once again the band rocked the house. They have some of the best musician's i've seen in a while and seems like each one of them are on one accord when they perform and that makes up for everything when the band is into it and dedicated the spirit just seems to take over. I really enjoyed this program once again and i'm looking forward to attending another one of H&H's Productions!!   --- Quartet Snoop

Slim's Anniversary, Goldsboro, Promoter Don Williams

I had the glorious opportunity of attending the anniversary of Slim and the Supreme Angels this past weekend. All of the groups were wonderful, including the two female groups from South Carolina. The bldg. was indeed packed beyond fire code. Everybody stayed until the benediction, which was interesting because you know how we like to tip out early! Doc McKenzie took the house and The Gospel Four were soulful. The only complaints were the need for refreshments and preference of a larger place to have the program. However, I think the size would have still been an issue in even a larger place. I left the program on a spiritual high that lasted several days. The "Doctor" was in the house!!!!!

Lake City, South Carolina Oct. 17, 2004  Promoter?  ( If you know email it to us) Thanks

What a night! The weather was beautiful, The crowd was out, roughly,  maybe 2,000 give or take some. We drove about 3 hours just to get there. Tickets were quite reasonable We arrived early and paid $20 to hear 4 of the hottest groups on the road today. Lee Wms., Doc McKenzie, The Wms. Bros. and The Gospel 4.  There were 2 groups and a comedian that performed and were not listed on the flyer. Don't understand the logic on that one since there were already 4 heavyweights to hear along with 4 very good area groups, then they added on 2 Praise Dancers and a Gospel comedian. That made 11 performances to hear beginning at 6:00. Of course it was Sunday morning when we left. Then after the Praise Dancers danced the first advertised group took the floor and sang well. Then they got criticized and asked not to go over there time cause people wanted to hear Lee and Doc and the others... Everyone sang really well... the spirit filled the house, there was sangin, shoutin and praising God all over the building, even in the bleachers (mmm   MMmm). Something wonderfully different occured as Doc ministered. During his rendition of "I'VE WON", he asked people to come down with testimonies, no one in particular, but people that had something to share that would encourage others that were going thru. Oh My... the testimonies were breathtaking demonstrations of the awesome power of God. There was a delivered drug addict, a young lady healed of cancer. A mother testifying how the doctors had given up on her son as a baby. And told her he would be a vegetable, unable to do  anything for himself, unable to walk, think, and the list goes on. Her Praise report stated the child is in the 5th grade now, walking, running playing and on the AB honor roll to boot... all to the glory of God!  What a way to end a night of great gospel music. I'll give it a 7.

You Can Help Keep Your Brain Healthy

The Alzheimer's Foundation of America gives these tips for  healthy brain:
  • Exercising regularly, such as walking for 30 minutes each day.
  • Participating in activities that stimulate the brain, such as reading, crossword puzzles, playing bridge, and other mental exercises.
  • Socializing. Maintaining a network of friends will lessen the likelihood of isolation and depression while increasing the overall level of brain stimulation.
  • Controlling hypertension, diabetes and heart disease-risk factors for dementia-through physical exercise, quitting smoking, controlling blood pressure, lowering cholesterol, and avoiding obesity.
  • Limiting alcohol consumption. Alcohol has a direct toxic effect on the brain that adds to the loss of nerve cells and synapses. By following these tips, visiting a health practitioner regularly, reducing stress through techniques such as relaxation, meditation and yoga, and eating a brain healthy diet low in fat and high in vitamins including antioxidants, people can significantly reduce their risk for developing Alzheimer's disease and live longer, healthier lives.

A Brain Healthy Diet Can Play a Role in Alzheimer’s Disease Prevention

There is no treatment that can stop the symptoms of Alzheimer‘s disease. Medications have lots of side effects. A brain-healthy diet can play an important role in reducing the likelihood of developing AD. Some specific vitamins and supplements to include in the diet are antioxidants, foliates ( B-vitamins ,) omega-3 fatty acids , and possibly ginkgo biloba . Our online article will help you incorporate health brain choices in your daily life.
